Partner case study
Large pools of offer-holders. Limited staff resources.
Jasmine Bual's words, not ours. Queen Mary had offer-holders spread across sixty-eight countries and no staff in most of them. Sixteen Queen Mary graduates worked the full list, not a sample of it.
The problem with scale
Queen Mary's offer-holders sit in sixty-eight countries. Nigeria and Ghana, then France, Canada, Italy, Germany, Kenya and Greece, and a long tail beyond that. No in-house team holds a personal conversation with two thousand applicants spread that thinly during the weeks that decide where they enrol.
Most universities accept that and send email instead. The applicants who most need reassurance are the ones furthest from anyone who can give it.
What we did
Sixteen Queen Mary graduates, matched to offer-holders considering the programme they had themselves completed, working the full list rather than a sample of it.
They were placed where the students actually were. A graduate in Nigeria for the largest group of applicants, one in Ghana for the second, and so on down the list. Not a call centre in one time zone ringing the world.
Every conversation was logged and every student was invited to rate it afterwards. Recruitment, training, compliance and payment sat with Alumnify throughout.
Placed where the students are
Five of the sixteen. Each one sits in a country that accounts for a large share of Queen Mary's offer-holders.
What the students said
Maneli was amazing. She put all my nervousness to rest by answering all my questions.
It was a really thoughtful thing Dilys did, because the conversation has raised my interest in QMUL.
I was pretty scared to start this whole new life. However, Estelle was really helpful. I am now way more peaceful regarding the course.
of the students who rated the call said they were more likely to enrol afterwards. 46% said much more likely.

Outcomes
- 1,300+ offer-holders nurtured by an Alumnifier with a Queen Mary graduate, better than one in two of everyone on the list.
- 7,487 logged interactions in our Nurture Hub CRM portal, close to six for every offer-holder who ended up speaking to someone. Nobody was called once and written off.
- 4.89 out of 5 average experience from 363 students who rated the conversation afterwards.
- Coverage across 68 countries without a single additional flight or in-market hire.
In their own words
“We are already seeing a much higher conversion rate in the areas where our Alumnifiers are operating.”
Jasmine Bual · Queen Mary University of London
What were you trying to solve when we started working together?
“We wanted to introduce an additional, personalised touchpoint to connect with students, particularly during conversion. Our main focus was targeting markets where we didn’t have in-country staff or a large agent network, we felt these students in the selected regions were lacking the support during the conversion period. We were also aware we probably weren’t making the most of our amazing alumni in certain areas and working with Alumnify has changed that.”
“Alumnify has given us an opportunity to extend our reach across some of our growing international markets, where we had large pools of offer-holders and limited staff resources, by connecting prospective students directly with Queen Mary graduates.”
What did you make of the alumni themselves?
“The alumni that Alumnify recruited for us were enthusiastic and able to speak authentically about their Queen Mary experience, giving offer-holders a relatable perspective on studying with us.”
“I’ve been immensely proud to hear about the successes of our alumni and even more proud that they’ve taken their time to share this with our offer-holders. They are truly inspirational and a credit to Queen Mary.”
How did students respond to them?
“The response was very positive. Our offer-holders really appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from Queen Mary alumni and ask questions of someone who had experienced the student journey themselves.”
“Many of them cited the reassurance the alumni had provided them in their journey to studying in London and at Queen Mary. The Alumnifiers add an authentic voice during a crucial decision-making period for them.”
If a colleague at another university asked you about it, what would you say?
“We’ve been very happy with the collaboration and would recommend Alumnify without hesitation, their offer has quickly and easily fitted into our existing recruitment strategies. Alumnify has helped us extend our conversion activity across a wide range of markets and provide offer-holders with an additional, more personal, and relatable touchpoint.”

Tell us your two hardest markets.
We will come back with the alumni we can already reach there, what activity would look like, and how many credits it would take. No obligation either way.
